To give shop-bought objets d'art an expensive lustre, use one of the many spray paints from Plasti-kote. For a quick and easy way to make simple plaster pieces from Ikea look really stylish, we used Pewter spray from Plasti-kote's Fast Drying Enamel range on the torso and some of the balls. The platter was sprayed with Chrome and other balls were sprayed with Plasti-kote Super in Aubergine, Matt Black and Gloss Black.

Plasti-kote Super Spray Paint is £5.49 for a 400ml can and comes in 35 colours. Plasti-kote Fast Drying Enamel is £3.29 for 100ml can and comes in 31 colours. Plasti-kote Spray Paints are available from all good DIY stores and hobby shops. For more information, visit

How to do it:
1. Make sure the items are clean and dry.
2. In a well-ventilated area, with protection on surfaces that you don't want sprayed, apply two to three fine coats. For Plasti-kote Super spray paints, leave 5 minutes between each coat and items will be touch dry in 15 minutes, thoroughly dry in 30 minutes. For the Fast Drying Enamel range, allow to dry for 10 minutes between coats. Items will be touch dry in 20-30 minutes and thoroughly dry in 24 hours. Recoat before 1 hour or after 24 hours.
